1 Italian Alder tree in the scene. Alnus cordata, the Italian alder, is a tree or shrub species belonging to the family Betulaceae, and native to the southern Apennine Mountains and the north-eastern mountains of Corsica. This tree is a deciduous tree, it will be 8 - 25 m (26 - 82 ft) high. Italian alder grows on most soils, but planting in clay should be avoided. Furthermore, it regenerates well in open areas, making it useful for soil protection and windbreaks. Unlike other alders, it is less dependent on riparian habitats and is more tolerant to drought.
